LinkedIn has been reported as the leading social media channel for business to business (B2B) marketing.

Marketing website ClickZ commented this week on how social media has become the preferred way for businesses to spread their content, with 87 per cent of B2B marketers using them. LinkedIn is listed as the most popular.

ClickZ suggests four top tips for using the channel successfully to market your business.

Firstly, it is important to use the news feed to send content directly to your company’s followers. If you haven’t built up a decent number of followers, you can use the Sponsored Updates section.

Secondly, encourage sharing. Followers can hit the share button to spread your content for you, getting your message out to even more people.

Thirdly, prompt discussions or conversations within specialised LinkedIn groups. The idea is that you are sharing the message of your brand by offering help and advice within an area of interest.

Finally, you can set up content hubs where users log on using their LinkedIn profiles, helping you to offer more targeted content.

This is just an example of how learning to make the most of all social media channels can really be an advantage for your business.

Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Pinterest and MySpace are other areas in which your business should be exploring and exploiting in great detail.

The key is making sure you keep up to date with how you can use these tools to accurately target and spread content about your brand to relevant people.
