New Deal Leads To Urgent Recruitment Need

5th June 2007

Infoserve, one of the UK’s leading online local search specialists, has announced it needs to create another 120 jobs in the region quicker than it first thought following its groundbreaking deal with internet giant Yahoo!

Infoserve now needs to recruit the extra sales force at its Darlington office as soon as possible, rather than over the next 18 months as originally planned to maximise the new sales opportunity.

The company is therefore holding an open assessment day on Tuesday 19th June at its offices at Morton Palms Business Park along the lines of ‘X Factor’. But instead of having to sing, those turning up for the interview will have a few minutes to sell a random object they select from Infoserve’s specially designed sales sack to Infoserve’s HR team of Emily Shorrock, Dawn Bunting and Cathy Tracey.

They will then receive a one–to–one with a team manager outlining the job requirements followed by a presentation by senior sales executives about the featured listings they will be able to sell to local businesses for the first time on Yahoo! Local.

If the interviewee manages to impress Infoserve’s HR team and team managers, they will be offered a job on the spot.

HR manager Emily Shorrock is confident it will be a fun day and is looking forward to meeting lots of people who believe they have the ‘sales factor’.

“Assessment days are a fantastic way to see how candidates would perform in the job. We really do want people to enjoy themselves as it will bring out their true character. This approach is particularly good for those people who might not excel at more traditional interviews, or those who have not had much sales experience.

“We’d really encourage anyone who is interested to come along and see how they get on. It’s a great place to work and the office environment is geared up to ensure people enjoy being there, we’ve even got a games room with a pool table and table football.”

All successful candidates will receive two weeks intensive training as well as on-the-job support and coaching in their first three months with the company.

The 19th June assessment day will be held at Infoserve’s Pioneer House office on Morton Palms Business Park from 10.00am to 1.30pm. For further information telephone the Recruitment Hotline on 0845 36 77 500.
