Infoserve Sells Thousandth Listing In Three Months

Just three months after online marketing specialist Infoserve announced it had been appointed as Yahoo! Local’s official online advertising partner, the company is celebrating its thousandth sale, which was made by local man Mathew Eeles.
21 year old Mathew from Stockton on Tees has only been working at Infoserve’s Darlington offices for four months, and was delighted with the sale.
Infoserve’s deal with Yahoo, which was announced in May, gives the company exclusive rights to sell featured listings to SMEs on the Yahoo! Local website. Up to four featured listings are shown alongside natural listings generated by consumers’ search criteria
The featured listings are sold on a fixed price/fixed term basis from £99 for six months and include a business’ address, phone number, logo, and a 40–character tagline highlighting the business’ message.
Commenting on the sale Mathew said: “It was great for the whole team when the thousandth listing went live, but knowing it was one of my customers meant it was just that little bit more special.
“It just shows that the product is fantastic and that the company is moving in the right direction. It’s a real boost of confidence to everyone involved.”
According to Infoserve CEO Steve Barnes the major attraction to SMEs is the fixed price/fixed term basis of the listings: “This package gives businesses the ability to advertise on a major search engine which has substantial visitor traffic at a fixed cost. They also know where their business will appear and for how long.
“We knew when we launched this product that it was exactly the kind of package SMEs were after, and the sales have certainly proved the point.”
On the back of Yahoo! Local and other highly successful products, Infoserve has committed up to £2m to recruit and train 120 additional sales staff for its Darlington offices.
