Trying to get new customers – it’s what most businesses strive to do on a daily basis. But how do you go about it?

We all know word of mouth is one of the best ways to bring new customers in – this is true for small, medium and large businesses as well as local, national and international companies.

But getting more people to recommend you is not always easy. Of course, the first thing to do is make sure you deliver – good services, product, customer service etc.

Encourage existing customers to rave about you through your online engagement. Use social media and your website to offer them regular tips and advice, or even just to give them a friendly hello, thank you for being our customer. This reminds them that you are there as well as making them feel valued as a customer. You can even be cheeky enough to ask them, if you like us, please tell your friends about us…

The next thing is to make it easy for your existing customers to pass your information on. By including social share buttons on your website and emails, you allow your customers to pass your details on to friends in one click.

And don’t forget, the first thing most people will do when they are given a recommendation is get online straight away and look that company up. So make sure you have a website to be proud of. This needs to be backed up with an active and effective social media presence that carries through your branding and messages.
