If you previously dismissed social media as a platform for swapping embarrassing photos or catching up with old mates, now is the time to think again.
Yes, there was a time when social media was considered a place to be nosy – to find out what your old school peers were up to or look at pictures of your far-flung relatives.
As a business, you may not have felt an urgent need to take part in this friendly banter in the past, but social media’s role has dramatically changed and these days is a crucial marketing tool.
Social media platforms are constantly coming up with new ways in which to help businesses make the most of their service.
One of the latest in a long line of reasons why you can’t afford to keep away from social media is Facebook’s new Product Ads service.
Product Ads allows businesses on Facebook to promote multiple individual products. The company explains: “Marketers can upload their product catalogue and create campaigns targeting certain products to specific audiences, or let Facebook automatically deliver the most relevant products to people.”
A similar idea, launched by Twitter at the beginning of February, allows you to target the right audience when promoting your individual products. Quick Promote enables you to have your Tweet automatically targeted to users who have interests similar to your followers – those who are most likely to be interested in your message.
Twitter explains: “Whether you’re Tweeting about a new product, promotion or blog post, Promoted Tweets can help you drive measurable business results. In fact, we found that users who see a relevant Promoted Tweet from an SMB are also 32% more likely to visit that business.”
